The benefits of Web 2.0 Communication Tools

I will adopt “community tools” because I can build and keep connect with my relationship by using many Web 2.0 communication tools such as Blogs, Wikis, Flickr, podcasts, & videos all are ways to communicate and share information. Social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook are communications tools for much of the population, too. The communication tools in this Thing-email, IM, and text messaging, Google Groups, Web Conferencing make person-to-person or group-to-group communication easier.

Communicate your thoughts on these tools in this communication tool, just take a Facebook as an example! While often regarded as a platform for people to share their personal stories, a Facebook can also be used to tell the story of an organization. Whether showcasing your work, offering behind-the-scenes glimpse into your non-profit, highlighting the people you serve, or advocating a particular point of view, a Facebook can be a powerful and influential communication and public-relations tool for your organization.
With Web 2.0 your communication counterparts will not be your 'users', recipients of your information. You are expecting them to read, react, discuss, protest, propose, collaborate with you and each other online in real time, etc, as much as you would expect it if they were in a face-to-face team with you. While you will be likely to be the one who gets community starting by selecting the right people and appropriate online tools and by actively facilitating, everyone will be a contributor to this process. If the community is linked by a meaningful purpose, this dynamics will become more spontaneous with time and it will require less of your leadership.

Press Photography versus Art Photography

The press photos that I chose for this assignment was taken from Toronto Star. The first photo was taken by Yorick Jansens. It is a photo of Belgium, in mourning of 28 deaths due to a bus crash. According to the news, there were six adults (teachers, driver, and ski monitors) and twenty-four students. They were returning back from “snow classes” from the Alps. In Belgium, this was considered to be a rite of passage for the transitions from childhood to teenage years. Another press photo that I chose was also taken from Toronto Star. This photo was taken by John Woods. This photo shows an unbelievable flooding on the Assiniboine River in Manitoba. The two art photos that I chose are a photo of a sunset taken by Mark Richards and a photo of the opened gate, taken by Stephen Mitchell.

There are distinct differences between art photography and the press photography. An art photo is a photo that is changed in various ways through the use of many programs and tools. In general, it is the type of photo that has been adjusted according to the photographer/viewer’s liking. As for press photography, it is a type of photo that captures the moment. In a sense, there is no editing to it. The photo itself tells the real life situation that the photography saw before them.

It is ethical and acceptable to alter art photography. The reason why is because we are basically altering our own picture to what we desire. The photo would be on display for only us to see (not for the world to view). Therefore, we would want the photo to look the “best” (through the use of adjustments). However, it is not accept and ethical to alter press photography. The reason why is because the main meaning behind the press photo is to display the real certain time frame taken. It is to factually support what is being said about a real life situation. In a sense, the press photo is a visual moment that tells the story, just by looking at it. Because it is a press photo, there should be no adjustments that degrade the reliability of the photo that is getting displayed for mainly, the world to see. Depending on the photo, by making adjustments, it has the ability to show disrespect to those that are involved in it. An example would be the photo taken by Yorick Jansens. If the photo is altered, it can be seen as mocking those that are in mourning because it is not the real sad moment that is captured. Also, for the photo that was captured by John Woods, if the photo is adjusted, then the story behind the flood would seem unreal. Therefore, the news and facts behind it would consider being fake.

What is the online social networking and its social roles?

Online social networking, or using web based services to connect and interact with people about shared activities or interests, can be a great way to pursue interests, establish and enhance existing friendships, play games, and share ideas.
In some ways, online networking is much like offline networking-the social skills you know from the offline world are still helpful. However, connecting by websites and emails makes everything closer, faster, easier… anytime and anywhere.
I would like to investigate further about online social networking because of its benefits. As you know, Online social networks are becoming a true growth point of the internet. As individuals constantly desire to interact with each other both in business and in personal contacts, the ability for the internet to deliver to this networking capability grows stronger and stronger.
I have found that online social networking can provide a valuable way for people to connect, share interests and stay in touch across the miles. It is the ultimate networking tool. I can keep in touch with old friends and make new ones, share information about events and even help one another with homework with online social networking tools or collaborating at work such as connecting people who work for the same company, or in the same industry.
I can use social networking for marketing purposes: to advertise new products and deals, to stay in touch with customers or to follow other people who might have items or offerings I could use. Social networking can be a great forum for viral marketing, but it's important to be clear that you're marketing a product or the message won't get through.
There are some excellent sites available to anyone interested in becoming part of the online social networking community of the internet:
